my new spy cam

I "won" this panasonic HDC-SD9 on ebay for cheap the other day. When I
opened the box and took the camera out, my first thought was that I
had only received the battery.

uncle :: niece as vinh :: ?

So I went to see "Son of Rambow" last night, a great movie about two
kids from disparate upbringings making an action flick. It's good!
When we got out and checked my messages* I heard the following:

mom: "Vinh, I just got out of the hosp....."

Uh-oh!

sis: "Hey vinh!, I'm sure you heard from mom, but Anh just had her baby!
It's a girl and they don't have a name yet, but....."

Awesome! Congrats sis! But, no name!?

It seems Anh & Mickey were expecting a boy, and thus never bothered to
think of any back-up, non-male names. I love it! Hopefully spontaneity
will bring out something brilliant. It's like procrastinating and
finally throwing something together more spectacular than was
imagined...

Do I get to start practicing at being the "crazy uncle" yet?

*apparently my phone sucks.

one-handed drumming part deux

Although the show itself suffered amp failures and a late start, it
was overall a pretty good one-handed drumming experience. I still need
to make a few adjustments to the angle and distance of the snare head
to the stick, and probably to the height of the stick itself, as it
was recoiling into my knee.

Also, I've really got to do something with my left hand. Normally I'd
hold it in the air, flashing my "fuck you" wound to the world... but
that seemed out of place at Mississippi Pizza. I've got a good idea
for friday night's show--I'm a little excited about it.

one-handed drumming? fail.

First times never are very good, are they?

Last night's attempt at one-handed drumming was a rather big
disappointment, and it wasn't my fault, I swear! The problems began
when we found out we had a one hour time slot for three (3) bands.
Each band had basically 13 minutes to play. As Holy Smokes! began I
rushed to set up the snare-pedal, only to find out the spring had
bounced (get it?) and this contraption was not gonna work. So we opted
for the Caledonia's kick pedal with about three minutes til show time.
SnarePedal v.2 lasted all of two minutes, if that.

When I reluctantly put a stick in my left hand (see below) and
continued, I figured I'd at least have my bandage and splint. But that
little finger shield flew off during the second song.

There I was, stuck using two hands in a show where I was supposed to
only use one. ahh me.

oh, and it hurt like hell, but I didn't tear a stitch, thankfully. I'm
an idiot. And tonight I do it again.
